MACADAMIA DRIVE
Located on the Blackall Range in the picturesque Sunshine Coast Hinterland, this rural property has sweeping views across open pastural land, tree lined ridges all the way down to Baroon Pocket Dam.
The existing dwelling was all but removed from the site, leaving only the existing slab. Using the existing concrete slab presented its own difficulties, but had a positive effect by not contributing to land fill. The new and the old are connected by a breezeway that also doubles as the Entry and Foyer, essentially creating two offset modules. This offset provides an opportunity for each habitable room to capture the amazing view while also soak up some much needed winter sun on those cool hinterland mornings.
Another challenging aspect to the design was a need for it to be wheel chair friendly, wider hallways, doorways and obviously all on one level.
